In today’s blog post, I will share the books my daughter enjoyed reading between 7 and 9 years and what she currently reads as a 10-year-old tween. Keep reading to see what books made it to my daughter’s list of best chapter books for girls 7-9 years old.
Best Chapter Books For Girls 7-9 Years Old
1. The Never Girls Collection (Books 1-14)
Like many young girls, my daughter Sophia was obsessed with princesses and fairies, so it was not surprising how much she enjoyed the Ther Never Girls Series, based on Tinker Bell and her fairy friends. Initially, we gifted her the Never Girl Books 1- 4 Collection, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and she kept asking for more Never Girl books until she got them all!
These chapter books were her biggest motivation in building her reading fluency.
- The Never Girls Collection (Books 1-4)
- Never Girls Collection (Books 5-8)
- Never Girls Collection (Books 9-12)
- Book 13 Under The Lagoon
- Book 14 A Fairy’s Gift
2. The Baby-sitters Club Graphic Novel
Right after The Never Girl phase, she dove into The Baby-sitters Club Graphic Novel.
She loved the comic/cartoon vibes that these books gave out, and the pages were quite vibrant and colorful. She read books 1 -13 and couldn’t get enough of them. Eventually, she discovered the Babysitters Little Sister Series.
3. The Babysitters Litter Sister Series
As I mentioned above, this series was inspired by her reading The Baby-Sitters Club, which she could not have gotten enough of. Your young daughter will indeed find this series enjoyable as many situations relate to real life.
4. Dream Pony by Usborne
It is an exciting and interesting chapter book based on the Animal Rescue Dolls, who discovered a young pony while on a trip to the Wild Isle. The Dolls need to come up with a creative plan on how they can help the trap pony.
5. Waterlily Ball by Usborne
On the day of the Waterlily Ball, the River Princess flooded the ballroom. Now, it’s up to the Princess Dolls to save the day! These books also come with a few stickers that your little girl can use to dress up the dolls.
6. Upside Down Magic Series
This is based on a group of kids at a magic school who have upside-down magic and are treated differently from those with perfect magical skills. The kids with upside-down magic join focuses and use their power collaboratively to prove that they also matter. Will it work?
These books were eventually turned into a movie that can be streamed on Disney+.
7. You Are An Amazing Girl
As a mom, I love inspiring my daughter through inspiring stories, autobiographies, quotes, and affirmations. And that’s precisely what this book is: a compilation of inspiring stories on courage, friendship, and inner strength.
Books Currently Reading As A 10-year-old
Now that she is 10 – here are some of the books she is currently reading:
Wish by Barbara O’ Connor
Every Christmas, I always get a book for my kids, and this year, I decided to get her Wish. She has not yet read this one, but I believe it will be right up her alley from the information I gathered before purchasing this book.
Harry Potter Series
Her love for Harry Potter probably came from her dad.
I tried watching the movies and couldn’t get by it. However, Sophia and her dad saw them all, and she has been going through that Harry Potter phase for quite some time now. Sophia is currently reading the Harry Potter series.
