Explore 70+ would you rather writing prompts for kids that are relatable, fun, and engaging to get their creative juices flowing!
These would you rather questions are perfect for kids in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.
Believe it or not, opinion writing doesn’t need to be boring or stressful!
At least not when you have engaging would you rather writing prompts like the ones I’m about to share with you below for your kiddos!
In my opinion, the key to getting kids to enjoy opinion writing is definitely providing them with relatable writing prompts.
Such as the ones I will be sharing with you today in this blog post.
Tips For Teaching Opinion Writing
Before asking your students to write an opinion piece, consider engaging them in the process.
Read examples of opinion writing to them, highlighting how the author wrote his statement and reasonings.
Remind your students that they are writing their opinions (which is a personal belief, thought, or feelings about something that cannot be proven). Not facts. (Which are statements that can be proven true or false.)
Use examples to explain opinions vs facts.
Here’s an example:
Fact: Planet Earth orbits the Sun once every 365.25 days.
Opinion: Planet Earth is the most beautiful planet in the solar system!
In this example, the first statement is a fact because it can be objectively verified and is universally accepted.
The second statement is an opinion because it reflects a personal belief or viewpoint and is subject to individual interpretation. Because there’s someone who holds the opinion that Mars is the most beautiful planet in our solar system. Or, maybe Neptune, etc.
