Next up, I have included three flip-book-style pages. These PDFs include two rectangles per page with a sentence that reads U is for followed by a word for your child to trace. Plus, a large image to go along with the word that they can color.
These printables are perfect for:

Literacy centers

Morning work or quiet time

Homeschool routines
-
Pre-K or kindergarten letter practice
They focus on hands-on learning while reinforcing key early literacy concepts through repetition and play.
U Is For – Tracing & Vocabulary Worksheet
As mentioned earlier, the first printable is a one-page worksheet designed to introduce the letter U through tracing, phonics, and visuals.
Tracing the phrase “U is for” will help your child build sentence familiarity
Each word is paired with an image to color, making this a highly visual and engaging first step in your week of U-focused learning.
You can use this page on Monday to kick off the week and discuss each word with your child or students. For example:
-
“How does it feel to be upset?”
-
“What instrument is a ukulele similar to?”
-
“What does an umpire do?”
Encouraging these conversations supports language development and comprehension.
U Is For Flip Book – Trace, Color, and Build
Next up are the three flip-book pages designed for children to cut, trace, and assemble into their very own Letter U flip book.
Each page includes two rectangles, and each rectangle features:
-
A traceable sentence: “U is for ___”
-
A bold and simple image for coloring.
-
A large, traceable U-word
The words in the flip book include:
-
Unzip
-
Umbrella
-
Uncle
-
Unicorn
-
Unicycle
These activities will allow your preschoolers to connect print to pictures while working on letter-sound association, phonemic awareness, and fine motor control.
You can have your students or child complete 1–2 rectangles a day, and by the end of the week, they’ll have their own custom flip book to “read” and show off!
What Your Preschooler Will Learn?
These worksheets are packed with early learning benefits!!
By the end of the week, your preschooler will have practiced:

Fine motor skills through tracing, coloring, and cutting.
Print awareness and sentence structure.
Independence and confidence through completing a flip book.
I truly believe that this printable pack is a wonderful way to reinforce early literacy while keeping things hands-on and developmentally appropriate.
Suggested Weekly Plan for Letter U Activities
To make the most of your Letter U printables, try following this easy 5-day plan:
Monday – Introduce the Letter U – Use the single tracing worksheet to introduce the letter and its sound. Say each word together and let your child trace and color the images. Reinforce the /u/ sound as you go.
Tuesday–Thursday – Work on the Flip Book – Each day, complete 1 to 2 rectangle/s from the flip book pages. Have your child trace the sentence, color the image, and practice saying the word aloud. Talk about what each word means and how it connects to real life. For example:
-
“Have you ever held an umbrella in the rain?”
-
“What does it mean to unzip something?”
Friday – Assemble and Review the Flip Book – Help your preschooler cut out all of the completed rectangles and staple them into a flip book. Let them “read” their book to you, a sibling, or the class. This is a great time to review each word and celebrate their progress!
